If your tooth becomes structurally compromised by decay, disease, or damage (like a crack), Dr. Zweig may recommend a dental crown to restore strength. At We Create Smiles, patients will receive a tooth-colored, all-ceramic crown whenever possible. However, teeth that incur extreme stress may need a porcelain-fused-to metal or all-metal crown for optimal results and longevity.
Placement of a crown requires two visits to our Dallas office. At your first appointment, Dr. Zweig will prepare the tooth for a crown, take an impression for the lab, then attach a temporary crown. We will send your impression, along with a shade guide for porcelain crowns, to a lab where a ceramist will fabricate the custom restoration. During your follow-up visit, Dr. Zweig will remove the temporary and permanently place your new crown. He will adjust the crown, if necessary, for a comfortable bite.
If you know that you need a crown, or if you have a toothache, please call us immediately. A damaged tooth will only get worse if left untreated. We have served patients from across Richardson, Highland Park, Addison, and beyond with quality dental care for years.
